Drug any substance that creates a notable change in your mind or body. May enter the body through injection, inhalation, swallowing, or absorption through skin or other membranes. Those people that use these substances, two kinds of drug users. Recreational drug users those people who use with friends, infrequently, usually a social thing. Drug abusers those people that use drugs to the extent that they experience negative effects on their life. Highest frequency of drug users is between 18-20 year olds. Types of drugs: most commonly used: marijuana: comes from the plant cannibas sativa and commonly comes in loose form. The majority of users are young people; most illicit users are not using it for medical purposes: cocaine: is the most potent central nervous system stimulant. Chapter 16: drugs and crime: methamphetamine: also known as meth, is a street drug that is man-made. It is a stimulant that is derived from over the counter medicine.
