They had a di erent idea of what it meant to be ottoman it was all about turkish ethnic identity. They particularly focused on language they tried to change the o cial language of the country to just turkish. The arabs started to get cut out of the power structure before world. After the war began, they began pushing against this particular mold of identity, and began rebelling against the armenians.
