Brands (and marketing) are very powerful and very often cause people to buy brand names over generic products. Keystone light and coors light are exactly the same. Products were made by hand, grown, or traded in small quantities. They had to make everything that they ate and used. It was hard to live this way because there"s not enough time in the day to make on your own everything you need to survive. So they would make what they were good at making and trade with others who were good at making other things.
