Ideology created a physical barrier between groups of people in order to create a hierarchy. Racism is the ideology that constructs race as a system to hold one group in power. Origin of slavery in north america was the result of vacants rebellion, so black and whites could not unite. There was never the permanence of slavery in any other society other than america.
