Deeper into the unconscious mind and expanded the role it played in maintaining balance. Conscious ego- is the center of conscious awareness of the self. Make sure the individual is aware of his internal process (such as pain) and the external ( such as outside noise) thru sensations and perceptions for daily functioning. Ego center of field of consciousness- gate keeper. Personal unconscious- all the thoughts, memories, and experiences that were not being thought of because they were too emotionally threatening( unique to individual) Complex- collection of thoughts, feelings, and memories that center around a particular concept. The more elements the greater influence on the individual but if too strong it can be hazardous such as dominating the discussion. Arose due to childhood traumas- according to freud. There is a collection of general wisdom that is shared by all people- has developed over time- past generations.
