People given or set unrealistic weight goals. Weight cycling ( yo-yo dieting ): weight loss is not maintained, after which it is gained back. Usually people gain back more than what was lost. Preventing obesity is easier than curing it. Balance between energy in and energy out. Focus on improving food habits and increasing physical activity. To lose 1 lb. per week, must have energy deficit of approx. Must create a deficit of 400-500 kcal per day, for 7 days. Gastroplasty ( stomach stapling ): non-reversible surgical procedure for severe obesity that reduces stomach size from 4 cups to a shot glass size (2 oz)
