Closed primary is also strict; you have to be a member of a party to participate. State runs a primary, puts up all the materials, handles registration, everything. Prints up a ballot for each party that has ballot status. On election day, you sign in and show id, then the political party you registered with. Have to vote the party you"re registered with.
