Document Summary

Primary sources are first-hand reports that have not been filtered, interpreted, or evaluated through a second party. Ex: an original article by researchers about their findings. Secondary sources are sources that contain commentary or discussion of primary sources. Ex: a news report on wikipedia entry about a scientific finding. Because the goal of science is to be as objective as possible, you almost never use secondary sources as your primary source of information. Summarize a niche area of research to put the upcoming experiments in context. Present one or more experiments, carried out by the authors, to address that issue. Interpret the results and provide discussion on how the results fit into the literature. Read the introduction, try to look at the results, but then focus on the discussion. If you pick this article, re-read the paper from start to finish, pay attention to methods and results, make sure you understand it.
