Livestock in the americas do very well in the americas. Horses, cattle, pigs, sheep and goats were all brought by columbus in 1493. Horses are useful mainly for travel and warfare. Disease was a negative impact from the columbian exchange. Natives of the americas had no inherited or acquired immunity to these diseases. Several leaders die, and potentially millions of natives, allowing the spaniards/portuguese to have an easier time conquering the americas. Population prior to conquering was between 40-60 million people. Plantation: large scale agricultural enterprise devoted to growing a single crop for the global market.
