Thesis: immortality, or a state without death, would be meaningless (williams 82). Death gives us the feeling that we have something to live for. People want to live good lives because they know they can die at any moment. So, making the best of your life to achieve everything you always wanted is important because death waits around the corner. Em"s state suggests, death is not necessarily an evil, in the sense that it can be a good thing not to live too long (williams 83). In em"s situation, she lived till the age of 342, and overtime it was like her life was repeating itself. She experienced things she had already experienced so her life got boring. Living to long can take away the meaning behind life. If life was endless people would not have anything to live for because they have their whole lifetimes to accomplish things.
