It is important to process data so that company can process it, analyze it and gather information. Bad quality of data slows down the company and leads to bad decision making. If data is collected from different sources and at different times then there is a high probability of it being misrepresented. Prevent data rot so that future generations can access it. Data governance is the approach to manage information across an entire organization in an orderly way. Different data has different value like transactional data might not be as valuable as compared to analytical data from the company. Therefor there are different weights attached to data and core data is called master data. Database is different that data warehouse and data mart. There is no such thing as one database that one person uses. Database is what you do in access and excel. Database is an organized collection of schemas, tables, reports.
