Fruits and veggies often confused b/c of different ways they are taxed_ peppers are fruits, but marketed as veggies. Seeds into soil nowadays machines, earlier animal power. Stem, fruit, ower, root, all of it determines the amount of time needed to grow. Tilling, sowing, planting, watering, harvest the environment determines which needed the most, ex watering in dry areas. Some foods harvested by hand pick your own cut costs and therefore price. Harvest time varies_ depends on product + season (when is the rainy/dry season?) Sent to groceries stores? needs to be shipped overseas? fruits/veggies need a little bit of shelf life: picked before full ripeness. If frozen/canned: picked at peak of ripeness and then treated to stop ripening process. Why tree fruits fall_ connective tissue of tree/fruit breaks down= ripe. Stress the plant in order to produce more antioxidants (i. e. phytonutrients) plant gets stronger.
