Document Summary

We"ve learned how to become cooperative through cruelty. We like to think that our willingness to cooperate in society is that its in our own personal interest. Bird of prey to be a lamb. Our intentions and motivations are less important than the actual act of what we do. Thinks it"s a mistake to separate the do-er and the action. Illusion: there is no subject underlying the actions- both physical and psychological: valuing time, knowing it will rain tomorrow, thinking about friendships. Thinks we are the only interesting creatures in the world. People choosing to be the oppressor/ choosing to be weak and enslaved. The weak and enslaved do not have a choice. Cannot choose to be weak and un-retaliatory. Eagle doesn"t choose to be predator and lamb doesn"t choose to be prey. Humans have created themselves to believe that they are free and in control of their life and destiny. How did humans get to be this way.
