Whoever does the best he can deserves as much as every other. No person should be put in a position of inferiority through no fault of his own: yes. Every society receives more from the more ef cient or talented laborer his services are more useful to society. Not to give him that larger return is a kind of robbery. Rawl"s two principles: oeach person is to have an equal right to the most extensive total system of equal basic liberties compatible with a similar system of liberty for all. osocial and economic inequalities are to satisfy two conditions. First, they are to be attached to positions and of ces open to all under conditions of fair equality of opportunity; and second, they are to be the greatest expected bene t of the least-advantaged members of society.
