PSYC 050 Lecture Notes - Lecture 7: Long-Term Memory, Change Blindness, Working Memory
Document Summary
Conscious of the present; conscious of the past. You think right now youre perceiving the world. Theres a sense of knowing theres a world around you. If you close your eyes for a second, everything remains and you remember the things that are there. The change blindness suggests if you look at someone for a second and all the classmates change their seats, you wouldn"t notice. If you turned away from teacher for a second and he changed clothes, you wouldn"t notice. The exception would be if you told yourself constantly remember what this guy is wearing. If you don"t do it consciously, youll lose it. and usually this is ok bc memory exploits basic fact of universe, which is most things stay the same most of the time. You don"t need the whole, precise representation of the world. You only notice it in certain clever circumstances.
