The text mentions that studying persuasion is because will always be challenged with
influencing our decisions. Persuasion public speaking is a central feature to every aspect
of human communication and it happens whenever you find people who are
communicating. The goal of persuasive speaking is to convince the audience to accept the
speakers point of view on a controversial topic. Also, the speaker needs to get their
audience thinking about other perspectives that could go into that topic and base their
decision off of that as well.

Informative speaking is basically just gathering information on a topic, and presenting
what you learned to inform other people on what you are talking about. Persuasive
speaking is when you choose a topic that is controversial. This being said, you are
supposed to pick one side of the argument and convince your audience that your side, is
the side that they should believe too. The role of the audience changes. In an informative
speech your audience is supposed to listen to your information and learn about your
topic. In a persuasive speech your audience has to use all the steps of listening and use
critical thinking so they can pick a side based on your evidence and arguments about a
specific topic.
