In the u. s. during the last decade, the number of young girls committing violent crimes has more than doubled. Shanae stabbed a friend to death when she was 12: megan in a foster home and was arrested a lot and ran away. Film is about megan and shanae spending time in juvy then going back onto the streets. They stayed at waxter juvenile facility in maryland. Shanae wants everyone in jail to see who she really is, not that she killed someone. Shanae was locked up for two years, longer than anyone at waxter. A worker at the jail said he sees the positive side of the inmates when they"re in there. They"re safe when in jail because they aren"t on the streets: megan says she regrets a lot. Shanae has over 40,000 points, has very good behavior. Shanae earned enough points to get released to spend a weekend with her family.
