Document Summary
Largest # of bacteria in the body. Lymph vessels along which are nodes with lymphocytes. No back flow - one way valves: lymphatic capillaries. Endothelial layers that overlap like shingles on a roof. Overlapping segments are adhered to surrounding tissues with collagen fibers. Twice as much filtration than absorption in capillaries. Fluid in lymphatic vessels is called lymph. Water from interstitial spaces goes into lymphatics and bring with it ions, nutrients, foreign invaders, etc. 2 lymphatic ducts: right lymphatic duct, thoracic duct. Drains everything from the right side of the body above the diaphragm. Left side of body plus right leg and abdomen. 0 o f l y m p h o c y t e s.
