Intention: what your goal was in saying or doing what you did. Being untruthful by saying more or less of something. Omissions: lying about something you do not say. Ex: mom says don"t tell your dad i bought this . Equivocations: what you say is technically true but the message you"re communicating isn"t. People feel more comfortable using this form. Ex: i have been to spain a number of times is technically true if you"ve been. I"ve never even gotten a parking ticket but he actually has robbed a bank. Ex: how are you doing today i"m fine . Cover up transgressions: to protect yourself, you tell a lie to hide something we don"t want other people to find out. Impression management: to make ourselves look or seem better.
