Leptin fat signal (if high then have lots of fat so tells arcuate to shut off lh) Responsive to ghrelin released by the stomach when its hungry also effects. Medulla arcuate by turning on those neurons. Responsive to glucose, which then triggers the arcuate and so on Npy/agrp neurons in the arcuate activate the mch and orexin neurons in the lh and also activate the pvn to stimulate eating and increase parasympathetic activation. Pyy released by the gastrointestinal tract just after a meal, inhibits orexigenic. Cart/alpha-msh neurons in the arcuate inhibit the lh and pvn to stop eating and increases parasympathetic activation, reduce sympathetic.
