Second shift: housework, cleaning, taking care of the children, a mother"s work. Women who are working full time and men who are working full time. The women who are in a two parent household, they end up doing more work in the household. Men do less work than women, but as the housework gap shrinks, parenthood widens. Women still do a lot more work than men do. Men rest more and watch more tv, which doesn"t balance anything out. Video: the changing american family (on youtube if needed to use as a reference and etc. ) It skyrocketed in the late 60s and 70s. A blended family is a family that has children from two different families (from two different sets of parents/step-siblings) Children who are raised in blended families has increased, but goes along with the rate of divorce. Fewer people are getting married, fewer people are getting divorced. There"s a strong correlation between single-parent families and poverty.
