It is no secret that a life of crime is no life for a child. So it is a wonder how we see so many children involved in such a violent lifestyle at such young ages. However, there are programs that are said to help show kids that jail is not the place they want to stay and living dangerously will lead them there. These programs take children with a high risk for a life of crime and expose them to the troubles and daily life of grown criminals who started getting in trouble doing the same things the troubled children are. The programs give kids perspective as to where their actions lead them. Some parents take punishment into their own hands, but every child is different. The purpose of this study is not to see whether the. Scared straight programs actually work, but it is to see if the methods of communication between officers and children are effective.
