Cultural and economic changes (consumption of natural stimulants) Migration of chinese population to the us. Heroin from the golden triangle (burma, thailand, laos) Return migration is the current trend however people continue to be smuggled to areas where they perceive economic and social opportunities: us-mexican border (most common) Many migrants become victims of traffickers and drug gangs. Chinese global smuggling: efficient, lucrative, sophisticated, and most brutal. Global response to human trafficking has been largely ineffective.
