A taboo that is found across almost all cultures is incest among immediate family members. Ethnocentrism: we judge other cultures off of our own; we assume that the way we do things is the best way to do things; we see the world through the lens of our own culture. Cultural relativity: opposite of eth(cid:374)o(cid:272)e(cid:374)t(cid:396)is(cid:373); the goal is to app(cid:396)e(cid:272)iate othe(cid:396)"s way of like without judging them; this is challenging (cid:271)e(cid:272)ause it"s the opposite of the way we were taught to think; context matters. Material culture: physical, tangible things that can be toughed; natural resources often determine what these can be. Nonmaterial culture: beliefs and values shared among the members of a culture; plays a large part in determining how the culture operates.
