Engineering graphics- set of rules and guidelines that help to create an engineering drawing. Engineering drawing- drawing that communicates and idea or design: detailed drawing of a part that needs machined, circuit schematic, circuit board layout, plans for a bridge, road layout. Orthographic projection- 2d representation of a 3d object: represents different sides of an object. 6 principle views: left side, front, bottom, right side, rear, top. When making an orthographic projection we need to include enough views to completely. Standard views describe the shape of the part: complex part- more views, simple part- less views. Standard views: front, top, right, the remaining views usually don"t add any new information. Front view- shows the most features of the object: usually has the least hidden lines, base the other views on the orientation of the front view. Top and front views are vertically aligned: share the same width and alignment. Front and right are horizontally aligned: same height and dimension.
