Approaches to groups: psychological, individual mind, sociology, everyone & how groups fit into society, communicative, how 2 or more ppl interact with each other. Levels of communication: hierarchy ranging from most simple to most complex, 9 levels, intrapersonal, talking to yourself & imagining convos in your head (imaginary interactive) Typically always a leader even if the person is not assigned: size. No solid size but lower bound is usually 3, upper is usually no more than 20. Defining moment is a number where you can no longer interact with every single other member of the group: face-to-face interaction. Not meeting & just skyping possess characteristics of larger group comm bc you cant all talk at once: time period. Those who interact only once wont develop the same maturity & skill as groups that interact many times: leadership. Small groups will have 1 or more. Can be formally assigned or they naturally emerge.
