Social psychology seeks to understand the causes of social behavior and social. The actions and characteristics of others affect us. The presence of others can enhance us or do the opposite: cognitive processes: trying to understand the world around us, leads us to prediction. Environmental variables: affects behavior, cognitive processes, and your mood: biological factors: inherited by personality traits. Evolutionary psychology: investigates the potential role of genetic factors in various aspects of human behavior (e. g. , parental investment theory). Three components of evolution: variation within a species. Organism within this species mate and create offspring: inheritance offspring inherit traits, selection certain variation beneficial and some harmful. Cutting edge: social neuroscience- research on neural and biological bases of social processes. It happens automatically: getting negative evaluations on a rainy day after the topic was depression. Positive correlation both variables move in the same direction: negative correlation both variables move in the opposite directions, correlation does not equal causation.
