Constitution (5th ,6th, 14th amendments) mandates that the criminal justice system officials respect the rights of accused individuals throughout the process. Due process requirements relevant to police pertain to 3 main areas: Each of these areas have been addressed by landmark u. s. supreme court decisions. Produce substantial changes in both the understanding of due process requirements. Police, while not attorney, still need to know quite a bit about the law to make arrests that will hold up in court. Search and seizure: the search for and taking of persons and/or property as evidence of a crime detection and accusation of a crime, protection by the 4th amendment, constitution of the united states. Protection against unreasonable search and seizure basically: ensures that citizens are not subject to arbitrary actions of overzealous police officers, unreasonable is open to interpretation. Probable cause does not demand proof beyond a reasonable doubt.
