Teens grow more quickly than any other time since they were infants. Skeletal growth- up to 45% during this time. Up to 37% of your total bone mass (girls need milk, calcium!) Primary: parts of body directly involved in reproduction. Increases in testosterone & estrogen (both genders, but diff. amounts) Testes able to release sperm, ovaries release ova. Not directly involved in reproduction but indicate sexual maturity. Boys: pubic hair, enlargement of testes (primary), facial hair, deepening voice. Heart doubles in size (hr decreases, better endurance and strength) Boys gain more muscle (girls do too, but boys 150% greater in boys than girls) Day/night cycles of biological activity that occurs approximately every 24hrs.
