K series: spans up to 60 feet, depths 8-30 inches. Dlh series: deep long span (roofs only), up to 144 feet, depths 52-72 inches. Cj series: composite joists, for composite floor construction. Most commonly used: k series less than 2 feet deep to achieve spans up to 40 feet. Lh series: long span, up to 96 feet, depths 18-48 inches. Designed to carry heavy loads, particularly, bays of steel joists. Can be used instead of wide flange beams and girders in roof and floors where their greater depth is not objectionable. On top of i-beam chord to take up the minimum depth of the whole system. If anchored by hanging from the top chord, its more stable. If beared on cmu on bond beam- either need bolt or indent plate for welding. In cmu can also leave pockets for anchoring. Normally, only 1 end of bar joist is anchored.
