Ex: genies wear turbans to express the middle east but that is not necessarily how they dress. Where do genies come from: 1. Their dress and appearance index western view of middle easterners but there are no genies in the middle east. The jinn: jinn genies in the middle east, invisible beings that live around and with us, some have magical powers and some do not, can take shape of animals. Jinn before islam: jinn were used to describe ancient territorial gods, lesser gods who lived among them. Jinn in islam: mentioned 3 times in the quran, original jinn. First human was made of clay and god breathed fire into him. Different kinds (not all have magical powers)
