Feeling of disorientation or discomfort due to the unfamiliarity of surroundings or the lack of familiar cues in the environment. People are less likely to experience cultural shock if they separate themselves from the new environment. Long term adaptation is difficult and people generally resist it in the short term. Some people adjust to only certain parts of a new culture. The migrant wants relationships with other groups and is welcome in the host culture and gives up aspects of their own culture.
