What is geography? a study of where things are located on earth"s surface and the reason for that location. Globalization vs. local diversity physical vs. human human geographers study arrangements of human activities in space. Geography invented by the ancient greeks; people of the world are being pulled in opposite direction by two factors: Modern communication and technology is pulling people in greater economic and cultural interaction; Companies outsource their production to less developed countries; More developed countries become service oriented economies. The concept of a spherical earth was well known among greek philosophers by the time of aristotle and has been accepted by all geographers since. Greek and roman cartography reached a culmination with claudius ptolemaeus.
