Modern cartography influenced by technological change and innovations. Gis is a powerful tool for map production during the dark ages people produced t-o maps. Maps of renaissance are pieces of art art and science of mapmaking. Modern cartography is very different from ancient and dark ages. Gis- computer software for spatial data collection, storage, processing, analysis, and visualization. Modern tools remote sensing- is the acquisition of information about an object or phenomenon without making physical contact with the object and this in contrast to on site observation. Paul vidal de la blanche is often regarded as the founder of this school of thought.
