Document Summary

Governing a revolution: constitution of the united states. Articles of confederation was to create a firm league of friends. Constitution creates a more perfect union and a central government that has some authority. Constitution was a compromise between the states and the federal government. Anything not given to the national government in the constitution is reserved to the states. Senate and house of representatives compromise so that each state has 2 senators but then house of representatives is based on population. House of representatives members selected by the people but senate members are elected by the state. Every financial bill begins in the house of the representatives. Every declaration of war is done by the senate. Almost always the elector will directly commit themselves to the vote of the people. Senate impeaches but then the president must be convicted by the house. Every four years we can vote the president out. President is commander in chief of the army.
