These lands do not come into chinese rule though. This dynasty rallied to prevent chinese domination of the peninsula. Tang and silla authorities preferred to avoid long and costly conflicts. They had a political compromise; chinese forces withdrew from korea and the silla king recognized tang emperor as his overlord. Korea was a well respected kingdom, thus korea and china entered into a tributary relationship. Brought gifts back and forth to each kingdom. Chinese gave gifts that were of a superior nature. Spread of chinese political and cultural influences in korea through their tributary. Korean royal officials who observed the chinese courts and bureaucracy, began organizing korean courts in the same fashion. Scholars brought chinese writings back to korea.
