The european council: council of the european union (appointed) They"re appointed not elected by the european union citizens. They represent the collective interests of the european union, not necessarily the interests of their own country. Citizens have no democratic control over policies that affect them. Most european union policies have benefited germany more than other countries. Some claim that european union policies have had disastrous social consequences. Council ministers should foster deeper european union cooperation. Alliance of mutual benefit between three or more countries on matter of common interest. Involves projects, institutions and policies outside or beyond the authority of one national government. Through such cooperation, the national sovereignty of individual states may be lost. Criticism of or opposition to the european union; opposed to closer ties to the european. Slang for britain"s vote on june 23rd, 2016 to leave the european union.
