39 views2 pages

Document Summary

Poor composition of lighting: poor placement, not enough light, glares on glasses and reflections of light on face. Often times different genres use different kinds of lighting: musicals use soft light with little contrast. One strong source of light and the rest is implied with outlines. Makes it appear that light is coming from a single source or candle. Falls under lowkey lighting: flags, cookies, gobo. Lights set on stands and projected through things to make shadows: flying moon. Holds a series of lights and is hung above the actors, usually softened with scrim. Overhead lighting: lighting in the fashion industry. Often use ring lights: wall lighting. Beams fall so that there is solid lighting, like a wall. No matter where character goes, will be pretty evenly lit. Used in musicals, dramas, soap operas: pool lighting. Light beams do not overlap, shadow between where the light beams fall.
