We are individuals to a certain extent and then not individuals since we are a part of a society and a country and we share cultures and ideas that make us a part of a group. There is more than one way to do something (leads to better problem solving and creates uniqueness and a diverse society) The value is derived from the kind of society in which we live. Effect it has on group dynamics and composition. groups are made up of many individuals and many points of views, stories, and experiences. Figure of the rebel/outsider who have a daring to live on the outside. they think and act differently than society or a group purposefully. Minority opinion or belief that can lead to a better answer (world is flat)
