Indoor tanning, or the use of tanning beds, is a common behavior by many people, Biopsychosocial assignment regardless of all the information and research available on why it is harmful and not a healthy behavior to indulge in. Indoor tanning is a convenient and relatively cheap way for people to get tan, quickly, without having to lay outside in the sun. The individual goes to a tanning salon and chooses the level they want, which correlates to the amount of ultraviolet radiation the person is exposed to and the color or level of darkness they wish to receive. They also are encouraged to purchase lotion to help protect" their skin and enhance their tans, as well as buying protective eye wear. Typically, the higher the level the more money it costs to tan due to the newer and better quality beds and the amount of uv radiation the tanner is exposed to.
