Analogic codes show meaning by being similar to what they convey. An expression and what it is meant to indicate are naturally connected. Depending on the agreement between the people, symbols are conventional: what are 4 characteristics (features) of verbal codes? (p. 82) Words and sounds are different and can be modified. Language encourages us to create new realities so i guess language can be used to talk about nonexistent or absent things. Language allows us to think in new and more complex ways. Abstract nouns, logical words, etc, opens up our minds to different things. Verbal codes are self reflective, meaning language has the ability to comment on itself.
