Scientific Method: (hard science)
1. Ask a question
2. Review the literature
3. Hypothesis

5. Design/Conduct study

● Scientist use (Scientific Method) to obtain a General Understanding of the World
○ e.g. Theory, Laws, and Concepts
Historians do these three things:
● Recording- take advantage of records accessible
○ Rely on Original Source Documents (anything left over from the period of study)
■ For Election: e.g. newspapers (Washington Post, NY Times, Wall Street
Journal), debates, social media, TV news, internet news, radio news,
insider documents (critically important), etc.
■ Goal: to get as many perspectives as possible
● Narrating- (from records), tell a story
● Interpreting- figure out and tell us why the story from the records is important
○ Historian use these to explain specific events
