It did not give national government coercive power over. It had no chief executive and no court system. It didn"t allow national government to regulate interstate and foreign countries. Laws had to be approved for 9 out of 13 votes. Faction- majority- big republic rather than small. Checks and balances allow ambition to counteract ambition. Believe in institutional rules that check for tyranny. Social contract theory- we accept limitations on our rights as individuals in order to get protection from government. Speaks with a single voice- executive branch.
