Orientation and onboarding: learning about the company and standard policies, feeling welcomed, and forming social connections. Training and development: emphasis on declarative knowledge (ex. presenting facts), with interactive and personal touches. Online learning: emphasis on declarative knowledge, but more self-paced; able to reach a wider audience. On-the-job training: learning the job through observation and imitation; emphasis on procedural knowledge. Simulations: practicing actual job skills in a controlled safe environment.
