Document Summary

An observation technique in which one person is studied in depth in the hope of revealing universal principles. Technique for ascertaining the self-reported attitudes or behaviors of people. Observing and recording behavior in naturally occurring situations without trying to manipulate and control the situation. An explanation using an integrated set of principles that organizes and predicts observations. Sometimes unstated: agreed upon by (almost) all! Unfortunately , we can"t test x directly. But, if you believe x, you must also believe y. A statement of procedures (operations) used to define research variables. Intelligence may be operationally defined as what an intelligence test measures. Focus on times when prediction is confirmed. Even explain away times that it is not. The perception of a relationship where none exists. A graphed cluster of dots, each of which represent the values of two variables. The slope of the points suggests the strength of the correlation. The amount of scatter suggests the strength of the correlation.
