Rich -> middle class -> working class -> poor. Middle class: economically independent, bankers, business owners, etc. Women: middle class (cid:449)o(cid:373)e(cid:374) did(cid:374)"t ha(cid:448)e to do a lot of the do(cid:373)estic (cid:449)ork anymore, instead they buy from others. Family size goes down: abortion was legal. Separate spheres: men and women are simply different. Women live in the private sphere (home, children, morally superior to men). Men live in the public sphere (money, politics, war: society sees the public sphere as superior, evangelical message to women is that they can reform society with their moral superiority. For the working class and poor children were a source of labor, so family size did(cid:374)"t decrease for the(cid:373)
