Document Summary

Atomic mass is average atomic mass for all known isotopes for those elements. Electrons contribute nil/virtually nothing to the mass of the atom. Oxygen attracts the share electrons and is partially negative. Hydrogen bonds form b/w the oxygen of one molecule and the other molecule. Isotopes: contains the same number of protons, but different number of neutrons than the standard element excessive neutrons. Radioisotopes: are unstable and emit energy and particle to stabilize themselves. Dehydration synthesis: as you bond macromolecules, you must take out a molecule of water. Hydrolysis reaction: when you want to break apart two subunits (macromolecule) you must add a molecule of water. A lipid molecule consists of a glycerol with 3 fatty acids. (put it together in dehydration synthesis makes a fat molecule and 3 water molecules) Some amino acids are found in proteins, these are the 20 amino acids. R group- rest of group (dictates how rest will function)
