Out enculturation includes teaching us the norms cultural rules for behavior appropriate to out own (and others") identities (such as man or woman, child, or adult, lower or upper class, ) Cultural reproduction: creating the next generation, in terms of culture. Allo-mothers: those who take care of babies when mother is not around (nannies, grandparents, etc. ) Co-sleeping may be better for babies: u. s. does not participate in co-sleeping" as u. s. values independence. Some of the cultural rules we learn as children and young adults are explicit: keep your hands to yourself , look both ways before you cross the street .
