Your life is shaped by organizations everyday. Business corporations influence governments, education, and international relations. Communication scholars argue that communication constitutes organizations. Organizations are composed of group members" interactions. Organizations are the set of interactions that members of groups use to accomplish their individual and common goals. Artifacts, languages, rites and rituals, ceremonies, stories, beliefs, and habits enacted by group members. Edgar schein notes three aspects to focus on. The encounter stage: active strategies, passive strategies, interactive. One person has formal authority to regulate behavior of another. Stress: feel unable to respond to important demands, constraints, opportunities. Workload: amount of work individual is expected to perform. Role ambiguity: employee unsure what is expected of them.
