Military coup establishes single-party regime ( 50s, 60s) After initial coup there is a pattern of an intra-elite competition until rule cemented. Military officers do not always agree about how to run the new society. Single party regime emerges, authoritarian regime persists into 21st century. Compromised sovereignty as britain still exerted power over. People blamed him for not being dedicated to the cause. Unrest in 1952 -- free officers coup abolishes monarchy.
